About
us
.
The Spitz Music Charity grew out of The Spitz, a much-loved music venue in East London that, through the 90s and 00s, was a home for artists, audiences and ideas. When the venue closed, its spirit didn’t disappear — it evolved.
Today, we take that same belief in music as a shared, human experience into care homes, hospitals and health settings across London. We work with outstanding professional musicians — many of whom once played at The Spitz — to bring live, responsive music to people who are often isolated, unwell or overlooked.
Our sessions aren’t performances at people. They’re made with them. Whether it’s a concert, a small group, or a one-to-one at the bedside, we respond in the moment — to mood, memory, energy and need. We see music ease anxiety, spark recognition, lift spirits and help people feel more grounded and connected.
At the heart of our work is relationship. We return regularly, get to know people and their stories, and create spaces where memories can surface — and new ones can form. Through music, we help people feel seen, heard and less alone.
